      3 Min. Overview of

Our Discoveries in Ukraine

Documentary Filmmaker Flaminia Lubin brought Irina, from Israel to New York
as a surprise to Zhanna.
The two friends had not seen each other
for 70 years
when Irina’s family fled Ukraine and Zhanna gave her a postcard saying
“....and if you ever forget me--
Watch Out!”
Here they are as Irina shows her the card
she has kept since 1941.

Zhanna’s words:
That was the concert of my life. This audience connected with us.
Frina and I wanted to lift humanity to goodness again, to fill the survivors of torture with signs of life and peace. It was a rejoicing of people who lived through hell together. Their presence alone was a concert without sounds. Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Liszt, and Schubert were all there for us.

Program from the concert in Germany
for the survivors of Dachau.
